Highlights of September 13 Council meeting
Agricultural land exclusion
Council OK’d asking the Agricultural Land Commission to exclude 16-hectares of land from the Agricultural Land Reserve at 4690 Highway 97 North, to relocate the BC Transit Regional Transit Facility and extend Hollywood Road north to ultimately connect with John Hindle Drive.
The Ponds subdivision
Council considered a rezoning request for an eight-lot plus remainder subdivision at 4973 Buckhaven Court, the property at the corner of Buckhaven and Steele Road. A new public road is proposed to be dedicated along the east side of the proposed new lots to provide access to the remainder lot. The public hearing was waived although the public can provide correspondence to firstname.lastname@example.org until September 27.
A development permit was approved for 35 townhomes on property at 1455 Cara Glen Court. The development proposed includes 31 three-bedroom townhomes and four two-bedroom townhomes. Each of the buildings are three storeys plus roof-top entryways and an attached garage.
YLW parking and UBCO
Council approved a partnership between YLW and the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) to provide parking to students and staff. With the Covid-19 pandemic still affecting travel, YLW is offering parking to UBCO staff and students for $360 per stall per semester, effective September 20, 2021. A local shuttle will provide service to UBCO for the students and staff.
