Kelowna Fire Department training exercises occurring on Knox Mountain May 28

The Kelowna Fire Department will be conducting a wildfire training exercises on Knox Mountain throughout the day on Wednesday, May 28. This training will require localized day-time parks closures of the Boyce Trail and picnic area within the upper section of Knox Mountain Park.
Dennis Craig, Assistant Fire Chief, Mitigation & Prevention, advises all park users to be cautious and obey all trail restriction signage. “To ensure public safety, we ask the cooperation of all park users to be watchful for trail closer signs and stay out of restricted zones in which the City’s Fire Department crews are actively training.”
Training exercises are expected to occur between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., primarily within the Boyce Marsh area. All other areas of the park will remain open. If training plans change, a new notification will be provided to alert the public.
