Signs of summer: seasonal programs, amenities return this weekend

In advance of the May long weekend, Kelowna parks and downtown are preparing the return of some seasonal programs and amenities.
Meet me on Bernard starts May 16
Beginning on Friday, May 16, Bernard Avenue between Abbott and Pandosy Street will become an open pedestrian corridor for the summer as part of Meet me on Bernard.
This year’s program will be extended to Sept. 14, in celebration of Kelowna hosting the CCMAs.

Bike Valet returns May 19
The annual Bike Valet program is returning to downtown Kelowna with longer hours and more days! From Monday, May 19 until Sunday, Aug. 31, residents and visitors can safely and conveniently park their bikes for free on weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Starting June 7, the program will be offered on weekends from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The bike valet will run at the same location as last year, the intersection of Bernard Avenue and Mill Street.

Waterparks open May 16
Kelowna’s waterparks are set to open for the summer season starting on Friday, May 16. Waterparks will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between May 16 and June 26, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. between June 27 to September 2, weather permitting.

Responsible Alcohol in Parks returns May 15
From May 15 until September 15 between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m., responsible alcohol consumption is permitted in specified areas of the following parks: Waterfront (including Tugboat Bay), Boyce-Gyro, Kinsmen Beach, Cedar Creek, Rotary Beach, Sarsons Beach, Strathcona Beach and Sutherland Bay.
