Some important equipment related to the City of Kelowna’s investments to improve the visitor experience at Prospera Place arrived this week.

The new scoreboard and new audio system will be installed throughout the summer. The interior of Prospera Place will be an active construction zone for the foreseeable future as these enhancements are implemented.

“The improvements at Prospera Place are well underway, with improved public WiFi already in place and the scoreboard installation getting started,” said Stefanie Wiik, Senior Project Manager. “In all, the City is investing $5.1 million worth of improvements as the Kelowna Rockets get ready to host the 2026 Memorial Cup.”

Other city-funded improvements at the facility include a sound system upgrade and a number of 98-inch display screens installed throughout the concession areas. GSL Group is helping to facilitate the enhancements.

Electric charging stations will be installed this summer for two new Zamboni ice resurfacers expected to arrive in August. The electric equipment is part of the City’s commitment to reduce emissions and improve indoor air quality for better health. Both Zambonis come with a Fast Ice setting that allows for a better quality of ice and faster play.

“These upgrades are an investment in the facility, in our community, and in Kelowna’s ability to attract major events,” said Mayor Dyas. “They will bring Prospera Place up to the standards needed to host world-class experiences — from sporting events, to tournaments, community celebrations — now and into the future.”
