Plant a garden that's both beautiful and "smart" this summer

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 

Wildfire preparedness and response are at their best when we all play our part. Our city’s fire fighters and first responders are always ready to do their part to protect our communities from wildfire – and you can do your part too! Visit with our FireSmart and Water Smart experts at Bylands Garden Centre on Friday, June 13 to get tips and advice on how to landscape your yard and garden using methods that both prevent wildfire and conserve water. This free event will help you learn how to better protect your home, beautify your garden and keep your community safer as well.

Who will be there?

All are welcome to come out to this free public event. Bring your questions, concerns and your curiosity to meet with local fire prevention, water conservation and gardening experts, including:

  • a Kelowna Fire Department Wildfire Mitigation Specialist to answer fire prevention questions
  • a local FireSmart representative to share information on wildfire resistant  landscaping
  • friendly Water Smart advisors with tips for a beautiful garden suited to our Okanagan climate
  • knowledgeable Bylands staff who can assist in creating your own garden oasis
