42nd Annual Civic & Community Awards

 

 

 

Kelowna's Civic and Community Awards recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in our community each year. The awards night honouring the 2017 achievements and contributions was held on April 26, 2018 at the Kelowna Community Theatre, view the 2017 recipients.

Nomination period for 2018 Civic and Community Awards will be accepted starting December, 2018.

Award categories
Honour in the Arts Awards

Teen Honour in the Arts   (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to a youth who has made an outstanding contribution in Kelowna through cultural and/or artistic efforts.

Honour in the Arts  (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in Kelowna through cultural and/or artistic efforts.

Citizens of the Year Awards

Sarah Donalda Treadgold Memorial Woman of the Year (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Sponsored by Fortis BC
Awarded to a women in recognition of her overall outstanding voluntary contributions to Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields.

Fred Macklin Memorial Man of the Year   (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Sponsored by Fortis BC
Awarded to a man in recognition of his overall outstanding voluntary contributions to Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields.

Young Female Volunteer of the Year (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Sponsored by UBC Okanagan
Awarded to a young female, in recognition of her overall outstanding contributions to Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields. Finalists will receive funding towards their post secondary education through the Dillon Thomas Budd Youth Scholarship, sponsored by the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation.  The award recipients will receive $1,000 each; while each of the two remaining finalists will receive $500.

Young Male Volunteer of the Year  (online nomination / pdf nomination)

Awarded to a young male, in recognition of his overall outstanding contributions to Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields. Bob Giordano Memorial Award   (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to an individual who has contributed significantly to Kelowna through voluntary service to amateur sport, such as coaching or administrative support.

Bryan Couling Memorial Award (online nomination / pdf nomination)

Awarded to the Kelowna based team (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount of recognition to Kelowna.

Athlete of the Year - Female  (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to a female athlete (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount of recognition to Kelowna.

Athlete of the Year - Male   (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to a male athlete (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount of recognition to Kelowna.

Augie Ciancone Memorial Award - Young Female Athlete

Volunteer Organization of the Year Award

The Central Okanagan Foundation, Volunteer Organization of the Year  (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to a volunteer or non-profit organization that has provided outstanding community services, with direct benefits to the city of Kelowna. Services may be related to environment, health, arts and culture, recreation, education, social services, neighbourhood and community improvement.

Corporate Community of the Year Award

Corporate Community of the Year (Small & Medium/Large) (online nomination / pdf nomination)

Awarded to a Kelowna business that has provided outstanding support for employee volunteerism in addition to financial contributions and initiatives having had a direct benefit to the city of Kelowna. May be related to environment, health, arts and culture, recreation, education, social services, neighbourhood and community improvement.

Champion for the Environment Award

Champion for the Environment (Individual & Business) (online nomination / pdf nomination)
Awarded to an individual and a business whose actions and achievements have shown outstanding environmental leadership or innovative environmental contributions, having a direct benefit on the city of Kelowna. Selections are based on environmental initiatives and contributions for the year.
