Short-Term Rental Accommodation Regulatory Amendments
Council gave first reading to Zoning Bylaw changes to further regulate short-term rental accommodation. The Zoning Bylaw changes propose to remove short-term rental accommodation as a permitted secondary use from all zones unless the zone explicitly allows it as a principal use. The proposed Zoning Bylaw changes are scheduled for public hearing on Tues. November 21, 2023. Read full report to Council

Business License Bylaw No. 7878 – Revision
Council approved the replacement of the current Business Licence and Regulation Bylaw No. 7878, in effect since 1996, with an updated Business Licence and Regulation Bylaw No. 12585. The new bylaw is designed to addresses several key areas including the use of contemporary language, enhanced clarity, streamlined fee structures and improved overall user experience. Comments from the public can be submitted to the business licence supervisor no later than November 3., 2023. Read full report to Council

PRC Boiler Replacement 
Council approved the $600,000 replacement of mechanical and association pool equipment at Parkinson Recreation Centre, including several boilers that are no longer able to operate safely. The remaining boilers are also past the end of life and a full boiler replacement is being planned. The new boilers will be able to be repurposed when the aging PRC is permanently closed. Wastewater Utility Rates
Council approved the 2024 wastewater utility rates. Wastewater collection and treatment fees paid by users continue to be comparable with other communities in the Okanagan Valley and across B.C. The wastewater collection and treatment costs are reflective of the City’s current facilities, level of service and economies of scale. Read full report to Council
