Construction Rules

The City aims to be a good neighbour. Learn the rules around construction waste, noise, and working hours.

Transportation Accelerator Program

The Transportation Accelerator Program (TAP) is a strategic initiative designed to speed up the delivery of key transportation projects and strengthen our transportation network. TAP includes several transportation projects that have been identified for accelerated design and delivery, ahead of their timelines in the Transportation Master Plan and associated 10-Year Capital Plan.

Accelerated Projects

Some of the accelerated projects you can expect to see in the near future include:

  • Frost Road Extension: Killdeer Road to Chute Lake Road
  • Burtch Road Extension: Denver Road to K.L.O. Road
  • Hollywood Road Extension: John Hindle Drive to Sexsmith Road
  • Glenmore Road Improvements: Union Road to Scenic Road
  • Lakeshore Road Improvements: Swordy Road to Wilson Creek Bridge

These projects will provide multiple benefits to the community, such as enhancing mobility, safety, connectivity, and livability. Projects were prioritized based on the feasibility of accelerated delivery and considering scope, design, construction and permitting complexity (eg. environmental, archeological). The City plans to identify additional projects that can be accelerated over the next year.

Find out more about these projects by clicking on them in the map below.

Project Funding

Kelowna is growing rapidly, faster than we anticipated. With more housing and commercial construction, Development Cost Charges (DCCs) revenue and reserves have increased, providing more funds for transportation infrastructure. By optimizing the use of DCCs, we can reduce the impact of inflation and increase the purchasing power of our reserves.
