Dehart Park environmental sustainability award
Council was presented with a 2026 Southern Interior Local Government Association Community Excellence Award for Environmental Sustainability, recognizing the City of Kelowna’s climate‑aligned park design at DeHart Community Park. The award highlights features such as habitat restoration, pollinator‑supportive meadow landscaping, protection of mature trees, water‑wise design, and low‑impact construction that enhance environmental stewardship while creating welcoming community spaces.
Saucier Ave rental
Council advanced a rezoning application for 781 Saucier Avenue to support a rental‑only apartment building near downtown and transit. The proposed rezoning aligns with the Official Community Plan’s goal of increasing housing diversity and rental options in the Core Area, with final adoption subject to approval from the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
Clement Ave rental
Council approved a development permit for 213 rental apartment homes at 815–865 Clement Avenue, authorizing the construction of two apartment buildings with shared underground parking along a transit‑supportive corridor near downtown. The project supports the City’s housing goals with strong transit access, enhanced cycling amenities, and shared indoor and outdoor amenity spaces.
Transportation Accessibility Strategy
Council endorsed the City of Kelowna’s Transportation Accessibility Strategy, a roadmap to reduce barriers and improve safe, accessible travel for people of all abilities. Council also directed staff to report back to the Accessibility Advisory Committee within one year on progress implementing the strategy across transportation planning, design and infrastructure projects.
