Rec & Ride this summer: discounted PRC and transit passes for children and youth now available

June 9, 2026

News Release

The Parkinson Recreation Centre (PRC) Summer Youth Pass and Rec & Ride Combo Pass are affordable ways for kids and teens to stay active and connected all summer long. This year, the $25 Summer Youth Pass gives youth aged 6–18 access to swimming, fitness and drop-in sports at PRC. The $60 Rec & Ride Combo Pass includes the same recreation access plus unlimited BC Transit travel for teens ages 13 - 18, throughout Kelowna in July and August.

“We’re excited to add even more activities this summer at PRC to help youth stay active while school is out and make it easier to get around with BC Transit,” says Lisa Ruether, Recreation Services Supervisor. “We’ve added multi-sport activities at Gyro Beach on Monday nights, themed days to enjoy popcorn and sno-cones, and an outdoor court area at PRC to play basketball and ball hockey. We invite kids and families to take advantage of the pass to enjoy a swim, workout or a game in the gym.”

Passes are available for purchase in person at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) and are valid from July 1 to August 31, 2026. Pass holders must be present at the time of purchase for a photo, and youth aged 13 and up must provide identification, such as a school ID or driver’s license.

For Rec & Ride Combo Pass holders, a BC Transit Umo pass will be issued at purchase or can be added to an Umo account through the app.

To encourage family participation, adults accompanying a youth pass holder will receive a drop-in rate of just $2 to PRC.
