Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass
The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass is a highly discounted pass for children and youth in Kelowna to get active and stay connected by providing access to both Parkinson Recreation Centre and local transit each summer throughout July and August. The pass is available for kids in our community ages 18 and under.
2025 Rec & Ride program
Passes are available for purchase in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) from June 18 until August 4, 2025. Pass holders must be present at time of purchase in order to have their photo taken for their pass and identification is required to be shown for children aged 13 and up, including a school ID or a driver's license.
Passes are valid from June 27 until September 1, 2025.
Cost
- Ages 12 & under: $20
- Ages 13-18: $50
A responsible guardian (16+) who is supervising Rec & Ride pass holders under 13 years of age can pay a $2 drop-in fee at PRC when they visit the facility together.
BC Transit
For transit access for those 13+, a BC Transit Umo Pass will be provided at time of purchase. For existing Umo account holders, we will add the Rec and Ride pass to the app, or issue a new Umo card for those without an existing account. Umo will allow pass holders to easily scan their card or app when boarding the bus.
The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass includes:
- Unlimited rides on BC Transit buses, anywhere within the Kelowna Regional Transit System
- A separate BC Transit Umo Pass (either card or activation code to be used on the Umo app) will be provided at time of purchase for transit use.
- Unlimited access to Parkinson Recreation Centre including:
- Drop-in activities
- Swimming at the pool
- Gym activities like basketball
- Casual facility activities like table tennis and foosball
- Fitness and weight room access (ages 13+)
Passes are valid from June 27 until September 1, 2025.
All ages are welcome in the pool, but children under 7 years of age need to always have a parent or caregiver 16 years or older within arm's reach. The fitness centre is open to everyone ages 13 and up.
Anyone ages 0-18 can purchase a pass, regardless of where you live. Please note that proof of age must be presented at the time of purchase.

Sorry, passes are not eligible for refund once purchased.
Memberships can be put on hold for the summer so families can take advantage of the Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass pricing and bus pass. Please call 250-469-8800 to speak to a recreation clerk.
The pass can only be purchased in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) as the pass holder must have their photo taken on-site and receive a physical pass. Please note that identification is required to be shown for children aged 13 and up at time of purchase, including school ID, driver’s license, etc.
Yes, the pass holder will need to have their photo taken for their pass at the time of purchase.
Not at this time. The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass is only available for purchase at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way).
Yes, replacement Rec and Ride cards providing access to the recreation centre are $5 and can be purchased at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way).
Please note: if issued an Umo card, it must be treated like cash and can not be replaced. We recommend signing up for an Umo account via the app to help protect your purchase by transferring your card number to your app account. This will associate your Umo card to your profile.
The fee structure is different because children 12 and under already ride the bus for free. Youth ages 13-18 pay a youth fee with BC Transit. Youth 13 years and older also have additional access to the Fitness Centre at Parkinson Recreation Centre.
Both fees are still offered at a significant discount to help lower financial barriers for kids and families in visiting our facility over the summer. Parkinson Recreation Centre has everything you need to have a fun, quality time with family for friends during the summer break.
The designated open times in the Rec and Ride schedule and the Youth Area (Orchard Room) are dedicated for children and youth use.
Rec & Ride gym times are for Rec & Ride pass holders OR drop-in youth and the accompanying parent.
