Final week to complete the survey to help inform a potential new growth area

May 6, 2026

Make your voice heard on a potential new growth area before engagement closes on May 13! As part of long-term planning, Kelowna’s Official Community Plan identified the area along Glenmore Road between the landfill and Lake Country as an area to study for possible future growth, and we want to know what you think. The survey is available at getinvolved.kelowna.ca.

In 2022, the City of Kelowna approved the 2040 Official Community Plan (OCP). This plan guides how the city will grow in ways that are good for the environment and affordable to support. Most new growth is planned inside our Growth Boundary, mainly in existing Urban Centres and Core Areas like Downtown, Rutland, and Lower Mission. However, the OCP also says that, in the long run, Kelowna may need to look at growth beyond this boundary.

As part of this long-term planning, the OCP identified the area north of Glenmore (along Glenmore Road, between Glenmore Landfill and Lake Country) as an area to study for possible future growth opportunities. The goal is to better understand the benefits and challenges of potential future growth in this area.
