News Release

Kelowna City Council reviewed and approved the City’s 2024 Annual Report – Investing in Tomorrow, Today – at its regular council meeting on Monday, June 23.

The report describes how, as one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, Kelowna is not only thriving amid rapid change but laying the groundwork for long-term success. It details the City’s key projects and work carried out over the past year, emphasizing achievements in the delivery of services, big projects, and government accountability. It also highlights the collaborative ways in which Council and staff leveraged strong relationships with partners and other levels of government to provide residents and businesses with value for taxes.

“By investing in community safety, delivering ambitious capital projects, and reinforcing financial accountability, our actions laid the foundation to make Kelowna a better place to live, work, and invest,” said Mayor Tom Dyas.

The report describes how the City is maximizing efficiency and enhancing transparency and accountability by aligning its budget with service delivery, benchmarking itself against other local governments, and measuring the results publicly.

“We focused on aligning our budget processes with service priorities, expanding our digital tools to enhance service capacity, and fostering leadership skills among our staff. These priorities ensure that we remain a high-performance organization that delivers excellent value for money to our residents,” said City Manager Doug Gilchrist.

In addition to highlighting key projects and work carried out over the prior fiscal year, the 2024 Annual Report includes detailed information about the City’s operating and financial activities. It is an important document that keeps residents informed while maintaining accountability for ensuring the financial integrity of the organization and efficient delivery of services that affect residents every day.

The City of Kelowna has been awarded the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting since 2002. This award represents the highest standard in clear and transparent reporting.

“Accountability and Transparency are at the centre of what we do. I encourage all residents to browse through the report and see how our actions are making a difference—and investing in tomorrow—to deliver on the priorities that matter to Kelowna,” said Mayor Dyas.
