Winter holiday closures and hours at City properties

The City of Kelowna will adjust hours and close select facilities during the upcoming holiday season. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and use online services available 24/7 at kelowna.ca/onlineservices .

City Hall
City Hall will be closed Dec. 25 to Jan. 2, reopening Monday, Jan. 5 at regular hours. Residents should plan ahead to:

  • Pay utility bills
  • Purchase January transit passes
  • Apply for building permits
  • Renew business licences

Essential Services
Emergency and critical services will continue uninterrupted:

  • Fire Department: available 24/7
  • Police: available 24/7, non-emergency office closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1 (calls routed through Fire Department)
  • Bylaw Services: online at kelowna.ca/onlineservices or call 250-469-8686
  • Civic Operations: for urgent water, sewer, parks, roads, snow removal issues, call 250-469-8600

Parkinson Recreation Centre
Dec. 24: 6 a.m.–12 p.m.
Dec. 25 & 26: Closed
Dec. 27 & 28: 6 a.m.–5 p.m.
Dec. 29 & 30: 6 a.m.–5 p.m.
Dec. 30: 6 a.m.–5 p.m.
Dec. 31: 6 a.m.–4 p.m.
Jan. 1: Closed

Glenmore Landfill
Closed: Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Jan. 1
Admin office closed: Dec. 25 – Jan. 2
No curbside collection on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1; pickup shifts one day ahead during the last week of December and first week of January.

Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery
Grounds: Open daily 7 a.m.–6 p.m.
Admin office: Closed Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Jan. 1; limited hours (8 a.m.–12 p.m.) on Dec. 24, 29, 30, 31

Kelowna Community Theatre
Box office closed: Dec. 24–26, Dec. 31, Jan. 1

Kelowna International Airport (YLW)
Terminal open regular hours

Social media channels will not be monitored over the holidays

Why the City closes during the holidays
The holiday closure aligns with a traditionally slower service period, allowing the City to reduce operating costs while maintaining essential services. During this time, staff use vacation days or other earned leave, ensuring efficient use of resources without impacting critical operations.
