Road closures, facility impacts & parking restrictions Downtown & Rutland for Remembrance Day

In honour of Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 11, several events are taking place both Downtown and in Rutland. Residents can expect some road closures, parking restrictions and closures at City facilities during the stat holiday.
Holiday hours at City facilities
City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 11.The Kelowna Memorial Cemetery administration office is also closed Tuesday, but the cemetery gates will remain open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.The Glenmore Landfill will be open regular hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.Parkinson Recreation Centre will be open adjusted holiday hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Downtown events
Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting a memorial ceremony and parade downtown on Tuesday, November 11. Approximate schedule:
- 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Pre-ceremony parade from Bernard Ave. (at Water St.) to City Park along Abbott St.
- 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Memorial Ceremony at the City Park Cenotaph
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Post-ceremony parade from Lawrence Ave. to Water St., ending at the Queensway traffic circle
Please note all timing is approximate.
To accommodate the events, road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect as of Tuesday morning.
- Bernard Ave from Water St. to Abbott St. and Abbott St. from Bernard Ave. to Lawrence Ave will be closed to traffic beginning at 8 a.m. for the pre-ceremony parade.
- Following the conclusion of the memorial ceremony at the City Park Cenotaph, Lawrence Ave. will be closed between Abbott St. and Water St., and Water St. will be closed between Lawrence Ave. and the Queensway traffic circle from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate the post-ceremony parade. RCMP and traffic control personnel will be stationed along the parade route to hold traffic at cross streets while the participants pass.
- From 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., parking will also be restricted along the parade routes. All parking restrictions and road closures are scheduled to conclude by approximately 12:30 p.m.
Rutland events
Army Navy Air Force Veterans in Canada – Unit 376 will also be hosting a Remembrance Day service at the Rutland Lion’s Park Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Rutland Lions Park and a portion of the parking lot will be used for this event. Veterans will be walking from the Legion to the Park. Please plan accordingly and consider alternate routes if traveling near Lion’s Park that morning.
