Public Service Announcement
City Council approved changes to the Solid Waste Management Bylaw on Monday, November 3 to set new tipping fees for a few items at Glenmore Landfill. New rates will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Tipping fee changes at the Glenmore Landfill include:
- Wood waste is increasing to $30 per tonne from $25
- Shingles are increasing to $170 per tonne from $150
- Mattresses are increasing to $18 per unit from $15
Wholesale compost rates for sale will also increase and take effect on January 1, 2026:
Garbage tipping fees will remain at $106 per tonne in 2026 and will increase to $108 per tonne effective January 1, 2027. Minimum charges remain unchanged.
These increases are reflective of inflation and increased operating costs. For a complete list of waste rates and acceptable materials, visit kelowna.ca/waste.
