Climate updates
Council approved a Zoning Bylaw text amendment to improve climate resilience through updated landscaping and tree regulations, increased soil depth requirements to support cooling and stormwater retention, FireSmart design standards, and changes to support more energy‑efficient buildings.
Coronation Ave. apartment rentals
Council adopted a rezoning application for a property located at 578-602 Coronation Ave. The property is now zoned Downtown Urban Centre Rental Only.
Lakeshore Rd. commercial development
Council authorized the issuance of a Development Permit for a commercial development at 3131 Lakeshore Rd. The project includes two single‑storey commercial buildings and one three‑storey commercial building, with 81 vehicle parking stalls, 31 bicycle parking stalls, and extensive landscaping, including 39 trees.
Fire and Life Safety Bylaw amendment
Council received a report from the Fire Department and forwarded proposed amendments to the Fire and Life Safety Bylaw and the Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw for reading consideration. The changes would strengthen the Fire Department’s ability to respond to illegal and unsafe fires, update wildfire risk reduction and safety requirements, and revise service fees to better reflect the cost of fire department services.
