FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Kelowna is inviting Kelowna youth who are passionate about the future of community safety to share their voices as part of a new municipal Youth Safety Committee.

As part of a city-wide initiative to improve youth safety, the Committee will be a safe, inclusive space where our City’s young people can openly share their concerns, diverse perspectives and contributions towards improving youth safety in Kelowna. Committee participants will have the opportunity to work together with the City’s RCMP, Fire, Bylaw and Emergency Health Services teams and share their voices, insights and recommendations for improving youth safety across the City.

This pilot project will run from October 2025 to June 2026. In addition to building leadership and teamwork skills, youth participating in this committee will also earn up to 40 community service hours to use as future job experience, a reference letter from the City and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact for youth safety across the city.

All Kelowna youth (ages 13 to 17) who are passionate about safety are encouraged to apply for this exciting new opportunity by October 15, 2025. For more information and to fill out an online application, visit: Kelowna Youth Safety Committee | City of Kelowna.
