Kelowna adopts provincial voters list ahead of October local election

News Release

As Kelowna prepares for the municipal election this October, the City is making voting easier by adopting the provincial voters list for the first time.

City Council has approved the use of the provincial voters list, allowing election staff to quickly confirm voter information at voting places. The change is expected to reduce paperwork and wait times. Residents who register in advance with Elections BC can expect a faster, more streamlined check‑in on voting day.

“Making it easier to participate is one of the most important ways we can support democracy,” said Michael Jud, the City’s Chief Election Officer. “For eligible non-resident property electors, advance registration helps to simplify the process on election day so voters can focus on making their voices heard.”

Residents are invited to register or update their information now at elections.bc.ca/register.
