Bertram Active Transportation Corridor construction starting downtown
Starting the week of April 6, Bertram Street between Leon Avenue and Bernard Avenue will be closed for approximately four weeks as construction begins on the Bertram Active Transportation Corridor (ATC) in downtown Kelowna.
Motorists and cyclists can expect rolling, block-by-block closures as crews move north through the corridor to Cawston Avenue. Each block will be completed before work continues to the next section to help minimize impacts to the downtown area. Pedestrian access will remain open. The project is anticipated to be completed by fall 2026.
Some tree removal is required to remove unhealthy or end-of-life trees. The City will replant trees removed due to construction at a 2:1 ratio.
Once complete, the Bertram ATC will connect the Sutherland and Cawston Active Transportation Corridors with a protected bike path designed to improve safety and comfort for people walking and cycling. To learn more about this project, visit getinvolved.kelowna.ca/bertramcorridor.
Please follow directions from traffic control personnel, posted signage and fencing to help keep everyone safe while travelling through the area.
The City of Kelowna and onsite crews thank residents and businesses for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience during construction.
