Walrod Park

Walrod Park is an existing 2.42 acres (0.98 ha) park that is currently tired and under-utilized. There are minimal amenities at the site, and these are limited to an open green space which can be booked for use by kick and run soccer groups, as well as for unprogrammed informal play, and a portable toilet. The existing building, located on the northeast portion of the site, was, until recently, leased to the Justice Institute of BC as a training facility and is scheduled for demolition in Q2 2026.

The development of Walrod Park is intended to complement Kelowna’s existing park system, and the proposed design explores a full expansion of the park and retains a bookable field space, provides passive recreation ‘green space’ for local residents, as well as other new and improved amenities to encourage a more diverse and better use of the space for all age groups in one of the City’s Urban Cores.
