Upgrades are planned on Lakeshore Road between Lanfranco Road and Richter Street, as well as Lanfranco Road between Lakeshore Road and Richter Street.

The Lakeshore Road improvement project is upgrading underground water and storm infrastructure while completing Lakeshore Road to a full urban standard, including new curbs, sidewalks, street lighting, street trees, a new mid-block crosswalk, bike lanes, and new pavement to improve travel and safety. On Lanfranco Road, new bike lanes will connect existing bike lanes east of Richter with Lakeshore, and extend to Abbott in the near future with development, creating a continuous east-west connection between the Casorso and Abbott Active Transportation Corridors. Combined, these improvements will support the continued growth of Lakeshore and the Pandosy Urban Centre.

Planned improvements:

  • New sidewalk and curb/gutter along the east side of Lakeshore Road fronting Mission Suites hotel.
  • New pedestrian activated crosswalk at the Gyro Beach parking lot access across Lakeshore Road.
  • New street lighting and communications upgrades.
  • Water main renewal and storm system improvements.
  • Extension of the protected bike lane on the east side of Lakeshore Road.
  • Sidewalk/curb removal and reinstall on the east side of Lakeshore Road at the Lanfranco Road intersection (North and South) to improve pedestrian safety.
  • Street trees including centre median trees to support traffic calming.
  • Road asphalt repaving to improve road surface quality.
  • New bike lanes on Lanfranco Road.

The bike lanes on Lanfranco Road are being coordinated with the opening of the Lanfranco Road extension (between Lakeshore Road and Watt Road) and will create a continuous connection between the Casorso Rd Active Transportation Corridor (ATCs) and the Abbott/Watt Street multi use path. This change will require removal of 10 parking stalls on the south side of Lanfranco Rd. Five stalls will remain on the north side of Lanfranco Rd, as shown in the attached image.

Construction is anticipated April - July 2026.
