The project will deliver an expansion of the Okanagan College Exchange to increase bus capacity and support future service improvements. Work includes an expanded bus bay and passenger platform, shelters and bicycle lockers along the north side of K.L.O. Rd., traffic operations modifications within the college campus main entrance, and relocation of an existing pedestrian crosswalk. The K.L.O. Rd. separated bikeway will be extended from Campus Road West to the transit exchange, improving active transportation connections to transit.

The K.L.O. Road Active Transportation Corridor (ATC) is part of the city’s all ages and abilities bike network. The new bike path link connects to a continuous path that spans from the Mission Recreation Park in the south, north to the Cawston Ave. pathway in downtown Kelowna.

As part of the Active Transportation Corridor work, the city will need to remove four small trees and two mature trees. The project will replant 14 new trees when complete.

A temporary exchange will be in place during construction located on K.L.O. Rd. west of Campus Rd West. See the attached map for an approximate location. An exact location will be confirmed by BC Transit along with an updated exchange map.

Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2026 with completion expected in October 2026.

Estimated project value: $2.6 million

Improvements to this transit exchange are a part of a suite of exchange upgrades being delivered by the City of Kelowna in partnership with BC Transit, the Province of British Columbia and government of Canada and supported by an Investing In Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) grant.
