Spall Road improvements underway

July 14, 2026

Traffic Advisory

Construction for transportation improvements along Spall Road between Bernard Ave. and Highway 97 has started and is expected to go through November 2026.

The work will be completed in phases and includes roadway removals and reconstruction, installation of underground utilities, streetlighting and traffic lights, curb and sidewalk construction, paving, and landscaping. Construction will progress block-by-block rather than across the full corridor at once.

Detours are in place for pedestrians and cyclists, who will need to cross at Clement and use the south- bound sidewalk and lane to head north. Traffic will be restricted at the Clement intersection to single lane from 5am to 3:30pm, when both lanes will open again daily.

This work is being done as part of the broader Redevelopment of Parkinson Recreation Centre project and surrounding infrastructure improvements, and will support increased traffic demands, improve safety for all users, and enhance connectivity within the area.

The upgrades are also required to coordinate with other nearby projects, including the improvements to Burtch Road and future School District 23 development, to ensure the transportation network functions effectively as the area continues to grow.

During construction, residents, motorists, and cyclists can expect temporary disruptions, including lane reductions, traffic delays, construction noise, and intermittent access restrictions as work progresses. Access to homes, businesses, and facilities will be maintained, and the work will be sequenced to minimize impacts where possible.

Please abide by safety personnel instructions, posted construction signage and fencing to ensure everyone’s safety while commuting through the area and visiting nearby destinations. The City of Kelowna and onsite crews appreciate your patience during construction and apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
