Share feedback on the future model of policing in Kelowna

Crime and safety remain one of City Council’s top priorities. To proactively plan for Kelowna’s future community safety needs, the City is undertaking a comprehensive policing model review. As part of this review, the City has contracted PwC, a third-party independent consulting firm, to seek public feedback through an online survey to inform the policing service model now and for the future.
Responses gathered will be one of several inputs that will help assess areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Survey results are confidential, and they will be submitted directly to the consultant. Only the overall results will be shared in a final report summary.
“Kelowna is a rapidly growing community and home to one of the largest RCMP detachments in Canada. Although we have confidence and deep respect for the hard work and efforts of our police officers, the 20-year policing contract expires in 2032 and the future is uncertain,” said Darren Caul, Public Safety and Policing Policy Director for the City of Kelowna. “This review is about good governance, including proactive planning and responsible fiscal stewardship, to ensure our residents can depend on a safe and healthy Kelowna, both now and in years to come.”
The City has been a leader in establishing strong community safety partnerships and will continue to work alongside all our community partners as this policing review unfolds.
To share feedback on the future model of policing in our city, responses can be submitted through this online survey link before 11:59 p.m. (PST) on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
