New water features at Ben Lee Waterpark make a splash for Rutland families

May 2, 2026

Laughter, splashing water and community spirit filled Ben Lee Park this weekend as families joined Mayor and Council for a ribbon‑cutting celebration marking the opening of several new water features at Ben Lee Waterpark.

“These improvements reflect our commitment to investing in the spaces that bring people together and ensuring neighbourhood parks continue to meet the needs of growing families,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “For Rutland residents, this means better access to local options for play and a place to cool off during the summer—right in their own neighbourhood.”

The event welcomed neighbours from across Rutland and highlighted the value of local parks for families looking for affordable ways to spend time together. Continued investment in maintaining and renewing existing neighbourhood amenities helps ensure free, nearby spaces where kids can be active and communities can connect.

The upgrades include an activity tower, splash blasters, a water weaver, a tidal wave and new activator posts. The features are designed for a wide range of ages and abilities, encouraging shared play, movement and imagination.

Water features were turned on for the celebration and will be turned off until the May long weekend, when Ben Lee Waterpark opens for the season.
