Kelowna drops the puck on Memorial Cup festivities

The 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota is returning to Kelowna for the first time in more than two decades, bringing with it national attention, economic benefits and a full slate of community celebrations. From May 21–31, 2026, Kelowna will host the Canadian Hockey League’s championship tournament at Prospera Place.
"As a community, we’re thrilled to welcome the Memorial Cup back to Kelowna,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “This is an opportunity to showcase our city on a national stage, celebrate one of Canada’s most storied sporting traditions and bring residents and visitors together for an unforgettable experience."
The 10-day tournament is anticipated to generate $22.5 millions in economic impact, supporting local businesses, increasing tourism and bringing energy to the downtown core.
Beyond the action on the ice, the Memorial Cup will transform Kelowna into a vibrant festival hub, with events and activities taking place across the city. The celebration begins with the ceremonial arrival of the Cup, featuring a canoe landing, parade and formal welcome at Stuart Park on May 21, followed by a Community Kickoff with live music, local food vendors and entertainment for all ages.
Throughout the tournament, fans can gather at the Real Canadian Superstore Hockey Hub outside Prospera Place for live entertainment, broadcasts and festival-style experiences, while Stuart Park’s Canco Family Zone will offer interactive games and activities for younger visitors. Visitors can also explore the Hockey Hall of Fame Experience at the Laurel Packinghouse, featuring interactive exhibits and iconic memorabilia, and cheer on local participants in the Mini Memorial Cup youth ball hockey tournament presented by Tim Hortons.
The Memorial Cup brings together the top teams in junior hockey for a high-energy championship tournament, but it’s also an opportunity to highlight Kelowna’s vibrant community, strong local partnerships and welcoming spirit As Kelowna prepares to welcome athletes, fans and visitors from across Canada and beyond, the city is ready to deliver a memorable event that builds on its strong reputation for hosting major tournaments and celebrations.
Traffic impacts
Road closures will be in effect from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 along the parade route, sections of Abbott St., Bernard Ave., and Water St., as the Memorial Cup Arrival Parade moves from Hot Sands Beach to Stuart Park. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes during this time. The Queensway transit exchange will be impacted during the parade.
