Intermittent road and Apple Bowl closures this Saturday

The Central Okanagan Food Bank’s Hungry Hungry Half Marathon returns on Saturday, May 30 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with set up and teardown extending until 12:30 p.m. Motorists can expect intermittent delays in Kelowna’s north end to accommodate the race.

The event starts and finishes at the Apple Bowl (1555 Burtch Rd.), with races beginning at 7:15 a.m. Participants will travel along the Rail Trail and through Knox Mountain Park, Waterfront Park, Stuart Park and City Park, as well as sections of the Abbott Street active transportation corridor.

The intersection at Clement Ave. and Cerise Dr. will have traffic signals turned off and will be managed by traffic control personnel from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to allow runners to cross safely. Drivers should expect minor delays and are asked to watch for participants and follow directions from traffic control personnel. Other traffic impacts include minor delays at the intersection of Mountain Ave. and Kelview St., as well as at the intersection of Ellis St. and Bay Ave.

The Apple Bowl track will be closed to the public from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 30.
