Gordon Dr. lane closures between Lexington and Lequime
Traffic Advisory
From Monday, June 29 until early August, Gordon Dr. between Lexington Dr. and Lequime Rd. will be reduced to single-lane traffic in each direction to support ongoing work at the Mission Recreation Transit Exchange and ensure safety as crews shift into the next stages of construction.
As part of the work, portions of the median will be removed and a new traffic signal installed to allow for a redesigned traffic pattern for transit access only.
Gordon Dr. will revert to two lanes in each direction when work permits. There will be times when single lane will remain in effect for 24 hours and there will be night work that will close Gordon Dr between Lexington and Lequime completely.
Visitors to the H2O and Capital News Centre area should stay aware of parking availability and pedestrian access due to the ongoing work.
Please abide by safety personnel instructions, posted construction signage and fencing to ensure everyone’s safety while commuting through the area and visiting nearby destinations. The City of Kelowna and onsite crews appreciate your patience during construction and apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
The Mission Recreation Exchange is part of the broader Kelowna Exchanges program developed in partnership between BC Transit and the City of Kelowna. Funding partners for the exchange program, budgeted at up to $16.5 million, include the Government of Canada through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Province of British Columbia, and the City of Kelowna. These investments provide significant transit upgrades that will support the city in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable transit services in the future. Other exchanges included in this program are the Rutland Transit Exchange, where upgrades have been completed, and the Okanagan College Transit Exchange, where work will begin this Spring.
