Cook Road boat launch open for the summer season

May 12, 2026

The Cook Road boat launch is now open and ready for public use following the completion of spring dredging work.

Each year, dredging is required to remove sediment buildup and ensure the launch remains accessible for boaters. This work has now been completed, allowing the facility to safely open in time for the summer season.

A larger upgrade project for the Cook Road boat launch, which includes replacing existing slips, constructing a new launch slip, building a public pier and groyne (a structure that keeps sand and sediment in place), and completing shoreline enhancements at Truswell Park, has been delayed due to provincial permitting and is now anticipated to begin in the winter of 2026.

Visitors can access the boat launch as usual. Please follow posted signage and be mindful of other users while launching and retrieving watercraft.

Please abide by safety signage and site conditions to ensure everyone’s safety while using the facility.
