Celebrate Neighbour Day on May 3
Kelowna’s eleventh annual Neighbour Day is fast approaching on Sunday, May 3. Celebrate the day by holding a block party, meeting new neighbours, or performing an act of neighbourliness and enter to win a $100 gift card to be used toward your celebrations. Register your Neighbour Day plans now at kelowna.ca/neighbourhoods.
“Even simple gestures between neighbours can spark a ripple effect that strengthens our neighbourhoods,” says Mandy Pollard, Community Development Coordinator. “Neighbour Day is our yearly reminder that every one of us helps shape the kind of community we live in. When we take time to know the people around us, we build connections and belonging, support well-being, and help create a greater sense of safety. Use this day to welcome someone new, catch up with a neighbour you haven’t seen lately, or offer a small act of kindness close to home.”
Inspired by Neighbour Day and want to bring your neighbourhood together? The Neighbourhood Grant and Youth Development and Engagement Grant programs are currently accepting applications for projects or events taking place this summer. These resident-led projects aim to foster connections with neighbours and enhance the quality of life in your neighbourhood. Ideas may include a community clean-up initiative, beautifying your neighbourhood, hosting a block party, organizing an outdoor movie night or porch concert, and so much more!
Applications for Neighbourhood Grant summer projects are currently open and will be accepted until May 25. Grants awarded will support projects to be completed before the end of September 2026. Additionally, applications for the Youth Development and Engagement Grant are accepted on a rolling basis.
