Plan ahead for the final Touchdown Kelowna game at the Apple Bowl this Saturday

July 2, 2026

Public Service Announcement

Residents and visitors travelling near the Apple Bowl this Saturday, July 4, should once again expect the area to be extra busy as the BC Lions take on the Edmonton Elks for the second of two Touchdown Kelowna games.

With thousands of fans once again expected to attend the game, some impacts are anticipated in areas around the Apple Bowl from noon until approximately 9 p.m., including increased activity on roadways, sidewalks, bike lanes and the Rail Trail.

Traffic & travel

Northbound left turns from Spall to Clement and Spall to Bernard will be closed to all traffic. Those not attending the game are encouraged to avoid the area if possible, consider taking alternate routes and giving themselves extra time if travelling nearby. Increased law enforcement, traffic control personnel and bylaw will once again be in the area to support traffic flow and safe movement around the stadium.

Fans attending the game are advised to plan ahead and are strongly encouraged to walk, scooter, transit or bike to the stadium.

Options to make it easier include:

  • Free Bike Valets and Lime Scooter/Bike Drop-Off Zones at Parkinson Recreation Centre and the Kelowna Bible Chapel at 1423 Vineland St.
  • Extra bus service on routes 97 and 98 to support travel between the Parkinson-Landmark Rapid Stations, Queensway Exchange, Rutland Exchange and UBCO Exchange from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on game day. Regular Saturday scheduling on all other routes will remain in place with some detours on routes 9 and 10 in effect. Check the BC Transit website for alerts and full detour information.

Those being dropped off by car should use the designated passenger pick-up and drop-off area located off Bernard Avenue near Spall Road. An Accessible drop-off area is also available at 1466 Spall Road. Please travel south on Spall Road and turn right into the collection area where site staff will be available to support.

Parking

Parkinson Recreation Centre, including the parking lot and pickleball courts, will close at noon to support game-day operations. Attendees planning to drive to the game can reserve pre-paid parking at select lots in advance. Both Evangel Church and Trinity Church parking lots include shuttle service. Free parking will also be available at Glenmore Elementary and Bankhead Elementary schools on a first-come, first-served basis. No public parking will be available at the Apple Bowl.
