Crowley Recreation Vehicle Sanitary Waste Disposal Site
The City is building a new recreational vehicle (RV) sanitary waste disposal site (sani-dump) on Crowley Ave.
Visitors to Kelowna and local RV owners need a place to safely empty their RV wastewater tanks. A City facility reduces the risk of improper dumping which can lead to contaminants entering local creeks, wetlands and Okanagan Lake. Once complete, the site will be open 24 hours a day and will run as a self-serve user-fee facility.
Why Crowley Avenue was selected
The City examined several locations before ultimately selecting the Crowley Ave site. This site is centrally located in the downtown industrial area and is situated on City property. It also provides easy connection to the sanitary sewer system and has an ample turning radius. This site will provide two services and is expandable to four in the future should need arise.
Project funding
The $200,000 project is funded through wastewater utility fees, not property taxes, with a user fee helping to cover ongoing costs.
