Mission Activity Centre Transit Exchange Upgrade
The Mission Recreation Transit Exchange, located within Mission Recreation Park, is being re-developed alongside major park improvements near H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. The new layout will better separate transit operations from private vehicles, improving safety, efficiency, and capacity to support future service levels. The design and construction will be coordinated with the adjacent Mission Activity Centre and Mission Recreation Park City projects.
The exchange will include new bus bays, passenger platform and customer amenities (shelters, bicycle lockers), sidewalks, a dedicated transit operator washroom (within a separate building), and a new pickup and drop off area for all park users. Connections will be made to the adjacent separated bike path and sidewalk network along Gordon Dr. to link pedestrians and cyclists to the exchange.
A temporary transit exchange will be established within the park to ensure service continuity during construction.
Construction is anticipated to start in Spring with completion expected in late Summer 2026.
Estimated project value: $5.5 million
Improvements to this transit exchange are a part of a suite of exchange upgrades being delivered by the City of Kelowna in partnership with BC Transit, the Province of British Columbia and government of Canada and supported by an Investing In Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) grant.
