About Bylaw Services

Kelowna Bylaw Services is a group of personnel who ensure bylaw compliance is met within the city. They are part of a department that seeks to obtain compliance in a consistent and efficient manner while delivering administrative fairness to those they are working with.

How are bylaw violations prioritized?

Bylaw violations are prioritized NOT by the call order but by how the public is affected. Call priority will be determined by health and safety risks and how impacted adjacent properties are.

Lower priority calls are typically those that do not affect the environment or public safety, as well as complaints that are made for retaliatory purposes.

What is a consolidated bylaw?

Some bylaws have been consolidated for easier interpretation. Some of our major plans and bylaws such as the 2040 Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw for example, are hosted completely online to make it easier to find the information you need. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of all bylaws on our website, but consolidated bylaws are convenience copies, and it is advisable to refer to the original bylaw and amendment bylaws through the Bylaws and Policies search.
