Instructors are hired to teach programs on a seasonal contract basis in various parks and facilities throughout Kelowna. Some programs include Kick and Run Soccer, T-Ball, Gymnastics, Dance, Art, Cooking, Camps and much more!

The City of Kelowna is looking for Part-Time After School Care Contract Instructors for the City of Kelowna's Licensed After School Care programs. We are looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to join our team to work with an amazing group of kids and passionate instructors.
This position will plan and implement quality child care based on the philosophy and mandate set by the City of Kelowna and Licensing Requirements. Staff will provide guidance, supervision, and programming that creates a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for all children. This position will be responsible for independently leading a group of children in our school-aged programs (Kindergarten - 12 years old).
Qualifications:
- Up to date First Aid/CPR certificate, with Emergency Child Care portion
- Required to complete a Criminal Record Check
- 20 hours of relevant training as a Responsible Adult - You must have completed a course or combination of courses of at least 20 hours in duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.
- Available for substitute or part time roles in afterschool care programs - longer shifts during Spring Break and Summer Camps throughout the year if interested/available.
- Ability to independently lead groups of children aged 6Y - 12Y, as well as work with other City Contract Instructors.
- Mandatory Vaccine Policy - required to provide proof upon hire.
Days: Mon-Fri
Hours: 0-25 hours per week - After School 1:30-6:00pm; Before School: 7:00-8:30am

The City of Kelowna is looking for a DJ for our Friday Night Dance. This is a program organized thorough our our Access Department for individuals with DiverseAbilities. We are looking for a committed individual who enjoys music and interacting with people.
This is not a typical DJ job and does not require any advanced skills. We are looking for somebody who can read the crowd and play appropriate music for the situation. The DJ will also be required to take requests, and speak over the microphone.
No mixing or blending of songs is required. Unless you are capable!

Hours: Dance runs from 7:00-9:00pm with 30 minutes before and after for setup/takedown.

Job Summary:
The City of Kelowna is looking for a Manager for our Licensed Care After School Program at Bankhead Elementary. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team at Bankhead and work with an amazing group of kids and passionate instructors.
The After School Licensed Care Program Manager will plan and implement quality child care based on the philosophy and mandate set by the City of Kelowna and Licensing requirements. This position will provide guidance, supervision, and programming that creates a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for all children.
This position reports to and works under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator. It is expected that the After School Licensed Care Program Manager will provide leadership to a small team of contract instructors at the Bankhead site, and also to the children attending the program.
Note: this is a Contract position – the selected candidate will be hired as a Contract Instructor for the City of Kelowna. This contract is reviewed and renewed on a seasonal basis.
Work Performed:
This position will be responsible for planning and delivering the program, scheduling staff, working within Licensing requirements and managing subsidy, providing behavioural guidance, creating and implementing care plans, communicating with parents, and leading a group of children hands-on in our school-aged program (K-12Y).
Minimum Qualifications

Job Overview
Calling all individuals with a passion for recreation! We are seeking Park & Play team leaders for temporary full-time and part-time positions. Park & Play is a neighbourhood based program that encourages families to go outside and discover their neighbourhood park or green space. This summer the Park & Play team will attend select parks to provide free recreational activities such as soccer, catch, giant board games, relays, inflatables, and various individual and team activities. The goal of this program is to provide a variety of opportunities for families, friends, and neighbours to interact with one another and to promote healthy family interactions.
Job Positions
- 2 full-time Park & Play leaders - Monday to Friday (July 4-Aug 26) from 2:00pm-9:00pm
- 1 part-time Park & Play leader - Monday to Friday (July 4-Aug 26) from 4:30pm-8:30pm
- 1 casual Park & Play leader - Wednesdays (July 6-Aug 24) from 9:30am-12:30pm
*Exact hours per week may vary. Casual leader may fill in for PT or FT Leaders when required.
Wage
$19.50 for full time positions
$19.00 for part time and casual positions
Responsibilities
Under supervision of the Community Development Coordinator, Park&Play leader(s) will:
- Assist in the planning, promotion and delivery of the Park & Play program
- Help with the set-up, facilitation, operation, take-down and maintenance of recreational equipment
- Plan activities that are designed to encourage physical activity, healthy family interaction and foster community connections. Activities could include ball sports, relay races, board games, and various team and individual challenges
- Facilitate and lead fun, safe, accessible and inclusive recreation opportunities
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive family and neighbourhood environment
Qualifications
- Background in recreation, community or social development, education and/or special events
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Self-starter with positive attitude
- Experience working with children and families
- First aid and CPR required
- Ability to lift heavy objects unaided and repetitively weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable moving heavier items (eg. bouncy castle) with support of other staff and assistive equipment.
- Full time contract instructors are required to drive the City truck and trailer to and from each event. Therefore, applicants interested in full time position must be at least 19 years of age and have a valid CLASS 5 Driver’s License to be considered.
