Instructors are hired to teach programs on a seasonal contract basis in various parks and facilities throughout Kelowna. Some programs include Kick and Run Soccer, T-Ball, Gymnastics, Dance, Art, Cooking, Camps and much more!  Postings for current available positions are located below.

Playschool Instructor - Substitute

The City of Kelowna is looking for a substitute instructor for our Playschool program at Parkinson Recreation Centre. This position will have potential for building hours in other children's programming as well.

Our Playschool programs for children 3-5 years old run in 2-hour morning and afternoon classes. Instructor will provide guidance, supervision, and create a safe, fun and nurturing environment for all children!


  • Up to date First Aid/CPR certificate, with Emergency Child Care portion
  • Required to complete a Criminal Record Check
  • 20 hours of relevant training as a Responsible Adult - You must have completed a course or combination of courses of at least 20 hours in duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition
  • Availability for Playschool subbing - from January 27 - February 14

Days: Monday - Thursday

Hours: Two sessions: 9:00-11:00am; 12:00-2:00pm, with additional paid set up, takedown and prep time

Location:  Parkinson Recreation Centre

Wage: $18.00 per hour

Basketball & Floor Hockey Instructor

You will be required to instruct a drop-in program that offers both Basketball and Floor Hockey for children aged 8-12 years. Half the gym will be floor hockey and half the gym will be basketball, which equals twice the fun! You will take kids through a variety of drills and games! See below for more information.


  • We are looking for a positive individual with high energy
  • Must be good with kids! 

Days: Mondays & Fridays

Hours: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Location: Parkinson Recreation Centre, Gymnasium

Wage: Starting $16.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience

Martial Arts for Kids Program Instructor

The Active Living and Culture Dept. is looking for a Martial Arts Instructor for children and youth with DiverseAbilities. The program will focus on groundwork and the basics of martial arts that the instructor is trained in. Participants will be beginners and will enjoy a combination of skills along with an emphasis on fun!


  • Qualified in a particular style of Martial Arts. Provide details

  • Experience teaching children who are beginners

Days: Wednesdays Sept 18th-Dec 4th

Hours: 5:30-6:15pm

Location: Parkinson Activity Centre, Main Hall

Wage: $22.00 per hour. There paid is 15 min set up and 15 min take down time. A total of 1.25 hours including teaching time paid.
