The City Water Utility offers rebates to customers living in single-family dwellings and strata complexes. Rebates assist customers in updating irrigated landscape areas to make them more water efficient. Applications are accepted between January 1 through October 31 each year or until available rebate funds are exhausted.

Eligibility

Only commercial or residential properties connected to the City of Kelowna Water Utility system or Glenmore Ellison Irrigation District area are eligible for this rebate. There is a maximum of one (1) rebate available per address. Total rebate value is 50 per cent of the purchase price up to a maximum of $100 for single family residential or $300 for a strata complex.

Rebates will be issued to registered property owners only. Applications will be accepted from January 1, 2026 until October 31, 2026, or until all funds are exhausted.

In order to be eligible for a rebate, applicants must:

  • have purchased and planted drought tolerant plants from the Make Water Work plant collection at makewaterwork.ca/plants.
  • attach a copy of the receipt(s) indicating purchase between January 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 (below).
  • attach a copy of a Kelowna Water Utility bill (below).
  • allow a Water Smart representative to complete a property visit to verify installation prior to receiving the rebate.

In order to qualify for a rebate, the plants you purchased must be listed on the Make Water Work plant collection at makewaterwork.ca/plants.

Applicants must submit a copy of the receipt(s) indicating purchase before October 31, 2026, and must attach a copy of a Kelowna Water Utility bill that clearly shows the property address, account number, and is dated within the past six months. Failure to include the above documents could cause a delay in processing the application and/or could lead to the application being denied.

Declaration

I declare: that my property is connected to the City of Kelowna Water Utility water supply system AND that I have purchased drought-tolerant plants as listed on the Make Water Work plant collection at makewaterwork.ca/plants.
