Active Living provides recreational amenities for the community. The department is focused on meeting the current and future leisure needs of the City’s diverse population and interests.
Community & Neighborhood Programs
Community and neighborhood programs delivers a broad spectrum of sport, recreation and cultural programs throughout the community. They provide a wide range of multi-age programming for individuals of all abilities and social-economic levels that promote active lifestyles and neighbourhood connectivity.
Sport & facility programs
Working with local sports organizations, sport and facility programs build partnerships to support community sport and recreation programs. Staff provide aquatics programming at Parkinson Recreation Centre, scheduling coordination for all arenas, stadiums and sports fields and assists the Outdoor Event application process for events taking place in City parks and roadways. This branch is also the program liaison for operators of City-owned recreation facilities, including:
