Spring recreation programs & registration

There's a new way to explore recreation and cultural programs this season. Instead of flipping through the online Activity & Program Guide, explore your favourite programs online and filter by age, program type, location, date and more.

You can still register in your preferred way: online, by phone or in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre. Learn more in our Frequently Asked Questions below or watch our how-to video.

Have feedback about the new browsing experience? We want to hear from you! Email us at recreation@kelowna.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is different about the new way of exploring versus the online Activity Guide?

The online Activity Guide was a magazine-type publication with flipping pages that linked to our registration system. While it was a good tool at one time, we heard from customers that it was difficult to use and not user-friendly.

Now, you can easily browse through all our program offerings for the season using filtering options for age, location, program type and more. Once you’ve found the program that you’re looking for, you will be directed to our registration system, or you can call 250-469-8800 to register by phone.

Why is there no online Activity Guide anymore?

The City of Kelowna’s Intelligent City Strategy is to find ways to improve the lives of residents through access to online services, technological innovation and collaborative problem-solving, creating local solutions to local problems.

We heard from both staff and the public that finding and registering for programs was a challenge and our staff sought out to find a tool that is easy to use, and simpler than a magazine-type guide. You can now easily find the programs you’re looking for as well as explore other new activities.

Will there ever be a printed (hard copy) guide again?

No. Unfortunately, printing the Activity Guide was not only an expensive initiative, but we also recycled hundreds of guides per season, even after reducing our print numbers. Our new way to explore will not only improve your customer experience, but also aligns with Kelowna’s Intelligent City Strategy.
