Casket Burials
Choose a traditional casket burial in lawned plots or family estates.
Burial plots are located throughout the cemetery, with lovely views of the grounds and surrounding valley.
Plots can accommodate up to two caskets and four urns. The first interment is a casket placed at eight feet, with additional interments at six feet or less for a second casket and up to two urns. Plots are available with either a flat marker or an upright monument.
One semi-private estate remains available.
Family estates offer a significant and lasting tribute, designed for shared family use or as a private memorial space.
Each 4 × 4.5 metre estate is enclosed with custom fencing and includes a granite bench, landscaping, and a reinforced foundation for a large memorial monument.
Over time, these estates provide lasting value by reserving space for generations to come. A range of burial and cremation options are available within each estate, accommodating up to 20 family members. This includes two double-depth lawn crypts for casket burial and eight companion in-ground cremation plots.

The Legacy Garden Mausolea offer a peaceful place for interment, with scenic views of the mountains and city for family and friends to enjoy. Inspired by the valley’s history, engravings of apple trees and grapevines welcomed visitors.
Each single crypt featured a granite front and was memorialized with a bronze plaque.
Cremated Remains
Choose a final resting place for cremated remains. Because scattering is permanent, we encourage families to carefully consider and discuss this option in advance.
Quarried from Canadian stone, the companion niches at Legacy Gardens overlook the pavilion.
Each niche, secured behind an engraved shutter, is constructed of solid aluminum and can accommodate up to two urns. Thoughtfully designed, these niches provide a serene and secure place of remembrance.
Family niches holding up to four urns are no longer available.
Only two remain available.
Cored from a single piece of smooth granite, the family urns are located at the entrance to Legacy Gardens, offering a peaceful and contemplative space for loved ones to visit.
Each urn can accommodate up to eight cremated remains. Individual ashes are placed in small, soft urns before being interred within the larger family urn.
Burial plots are located throughout the cemetery, offering views of the surrounding grounds and valley.
Each companion plot can hold up to two urns while family plots can hold up to six urns. Urns are placed in protective liners to maintain the integrity of the burial. Plots are available with either a flat marker or an upright monument.
Promontory Green offers a peaceful garden setting for scattering cremated remains among trees and seasonal plantings. Following the scattering, the remaining ashes are placed in a shared underground ossuary by the family. This protected space provides a lasting place of remembrance for generations to come.
Memorial walls on either side of the garden provide the option to add a bronze plaque following the scattering.

At the base of Dilworth Mountain, this natural 0.3 km trail offers a quiet setting for scattering, with views of the forest and city at the southern trailhead. As a protected interment area, the space will always remain a place for remembrance.
Stone pillars at the trail entrance provide the option to add a bronze plaque with a personalized epitaph.
Plaque Memorials
Always have a place to connect with your loves. Honour a loved one with a plaque placed in the scattering garden, on trees, or on the Brevity Memorial.
Promontory Green and the Dilworth Mountain natural trail are protected interment areas at the cemetery. Families can create a lasting place of remembrance with a memorial plaque at either location.
Bronze plaques may be mounted on the memorial walls on either side of the garden or on the stone pillars at the trail entrance, offering a space to visit, reflect, and honour loved ones.
Honour a loved one with the gift of a living legacy and preservation of our natural heritage. The cemetery urban forest has a variety of trees that can be dedicated in memory of a loved one.
An inscribed memory stone will be placed at the trunk of your selected tree. The plaque will remain for a length of 20 years, with the option to renew at that time.
The Brevity Memorial is dedicated to children whose lives were cut short, symbolized by a life-size bronze statue of two children playing atop a tree stump. The surrounding plaza includes memorial walls where the names of children and siblings are added each year during a commemorative ceremony.
Names are added to memorial walls in an annual ceremony by the Kelowna chapter of the Compassionate Friends, an organization dedicated to bereaved parents and family members. Contact this organization for more information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Funeral planning can be stressful, and in these times people can forget things. If you can’t remember if you’ve bought a plot, that’s OK; just call us at 250-862-5518 and we’ll be glad to help.
Plots and niches can either be transferred to an immediate family member (at the discretion of the Cemetery Manager) or sold back to the City for the original purchase price minus the portion allocated for the Care and Maintenance Fund.
Sometimes families move. We understand the importance of having a place to go to connect with loved ones that have passed and may not be interred here. We have a spot here for just this circumstance. You can either have a memorial plaque added to one of our memorial walls in the Promontory Green or one added to one of the standing stones at the start of the Dilworth Mountain Scattering Trail.
On the day of a service, families may place flowers along with all other memorial service items such as stands, baskets, frames and casket sprays. These items will be left at the site until they become wilted, discoloured or unsightly. Family members should remove any memorial items they wish to keep at the conclusion of the graveside service.
At all other times, the Cemetery maintains a strict policy on prohibited items. Since the Cemetery is a public park, this policy helps ensure the safety of visitors, staff and wildlife. View the Prohibited Item checklist for details.
After a funeral service, families and friends need a quiet time to come back to the cemetery. We find most of our visitors come on the weekends. By not permitting services on Sundays and Holidays, we can ensure there is at least one day a week that visitors will not be disturbed by larger groups of people or machinery on site. We estimate that there may be up to 4,000 different families actively visiting the cemetery. By providing quiet days, we are honouring those interred here. Once your loved ones are interred at the Cemetery, you’ll come to appreciate the serene atmosphere on the weekends.
As many families visit the cemetery on weekends, there can be overlap between services and those visiting loved ones. While we strive to maintain a tranquil environment for reflection and remembrance, we recognize that some families prefer weekend services. To accommodate this, Saturday services are available for an additional fee to cover on‑call staffing and maintenance outside regular hours.
