Stuart Park 2020/21 skating season update

Indoor public skating for 2020/21 season

This year, to adhere to safety measures amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor public skating times can be pre-booked through our online reservation system. Bookings can placed up to two hours prior to your desired skate time. Please note that you will need an online City recreation account to book a skate time. To set up an account, call 250-469-8800 or email recreation@kelowna.ca. Drop-ins will be permitted only if space allows. Please note that all drop-in skaters also require an online City recreation account.

The online booking system is being introduced to ensure that even during peak times, the number of skaters at any given rink will be monitored and capped to allow for physical distancing. See below for safety guidelines and frequently asked questions. If you need assistance, please contact us at 250-469-8800

Indoor public skating - frequently asked questions
Why do I need to reserve a time for indoor public skating?

The online reservation system is in place so skaters can be assured that even during peak times, the number of people in any given facility will be monitored and capped to allow for physical distancing.

I'm having trouble using the online booking tool. Is there another way to reserve a time slot?

If you have any issues using the online reservation system, you can connect with one of our recreation clerks by calling 250-469-8800. Current phone hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Saturday - Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Can I cancel or change my online booking?

No, you can not change or cancel your online skating reservation. All drop-ins are non-refundable.

What COVID-19 precautions are in place at indoor rinks?
  • All high touch areas in all facilities will be frequently cleaned and sanitized
  • Skaters are encouraged to come dressed for the rink as facilities may not have changerooms available. Skates can be laced up in designated areas, but skaters should note that all facilities will have physical distancing protocols in place and space will be limited.
  • Enter and exit doors will be clearly marked
  • Facility capacities have been lowered and will remain capped to ensure that even during peak times, physical distance between skaters can be maintained
  • Masks are required in all City facilities including arenas. Masks must be worn in all public-access areas until the point of engaging in physical activity. Exceptions to the masks requirement are outlined at kelowna.ca/prc
  • Ticket booths will have plexiglass barriers installed
  • Equipment rentals are only available at Rutland Arena at this time. For rental inquires, please call 1-866-313-5071 or email info@kelownachiefs.com.
  • Floor markings and additional signage will be posted at each facility to remind visitors to maintain physical distance from others and to wash hands frequently.
  • Anyone who is sick or experiencing symptoms is asked to stay home
Do I need to wear a mask for indoor public skating?

Following direction from the Provincial Health Officer, additional safety procedures are being implemented for all City staff, instructors and public visiting City recreation facilities including a requirement to wear masks in public-access areas. Masks must be worn in all City recreation facilities including arenas and should stay on until the point of engaging in physical activity. More information about wearing masks in recreation facilities can be found at kelowna.ca/prc.
