Play & Learn at Parkinson

Play & Learn at Parkinson is a licensed group child care center for children ages 3 - 5 with a focus on relationship building and school readiness. The program is led by a qualified Early Childhood Educator who leads a class of 8 children. Families have the option to register for 3 days a week or 2 days a week.

Monday / Wednesday / Friday - 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday / Thursday - 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

  • This program follows the school calendar
    • Starts in September and runs through till June
    • We do not operate on Statutory Holidays 
    • We do operate on SD23 Pro-D days

Bankhead Out of School Care

Before school care:  7 - 8:30 a.m. 

After school care:  2:30 - 5:30 p.m. 

  • We do not operate on Statutory Holidays or Pro-D days.
  • (Early Dismissal) Parent-Teacher Conference Days at Bankhead Elementary School
    • The Afterschool Care Program’s start time will be adjusted accordingly to ensure your child is fully supervised. There is no additional fee for this service.
  • Day Camps (offered during Spring & Summer break): Regular hours of operation for camps are 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drop-off hours are 7:45-9:00 a.m. with pick-up between 5:00-5:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified.
    • Separate registration is necessary.

Available subsidy and how to apply
  • Families who are applying for subsidy must bring in completed forms at the time of registration. It is the family’s responsibility to follow-up with the Ministry of Children and Families to confirm assistance.
  • Applying for subsidy does not guarantee financial support; the Ministry will determine each family separately. 
  • Parents will be responsible for the difference (parent portion) determined by the Ministry.
  • Subsidy applications and renewals are the responsibility of the families.
  • If subsidy is not in place by the 1st of each month, then payment is due IN FULL in accordance with the Payment schedule. 
  • To find out if your family is eligible, please search the BC Ministry website for the Affordable Child Care Benefit and access the online estimator, as well as other resources.

Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative

The City of Kelowna has been approved to opt-in to the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative by the Ministry of Children & Family Development in order to reduce parent fees for the 2025/2026 funding season, until March 2026.
