Making Active by Nature even more interactive!

We have launched Knox Your Sox Off! and the Knox Challenge - two new interactive and fun ways to enjoy your hike up Knox Mountain Park along the Apex Trail. You just need your phone (GPS on), water and some good shoes.

Knox Mountain Park

Knox Your Sox Off! is a fun and fact-filled quest where you hike up Knox along the Apex Trail at your own pace. With your phone as your guide, you'll learn about the history of Knox Mountain Park, its natural plant and wildlife, and much more. Take the kids and see where the trail takes might just see something that Knox Your Sox Off!

Knox Challenge is a timed quest. Whether you're a seasoned 'Knox-er' or new to the Apex Trail, give it a try! Your phone (GPS on) acts as your stopwatch. Start at the bottom of the Apex Trail, follow the sign markers as you make your way up, and the challenge is on. It's a steep hike to the top of the 2.4 km trail so get your heart rate up and then enjoy the stunning view at the top. Track your time, challenge your friends, track how many times - there are lots of ways to have fun with the Knox Challenge!

How to get started:

  3. Start your adventure!

Knox Trail Group
Location: Knox Mountain Park Base
Saturday from 9 - 10 a.m. starting May 26

Over the course of six weeks, enjoy the beauty of the outdoors climbing various trails around Knox while getting in an awesome strength-building and cardiovascular workout. Meet new people and get comfortable exploring new trails.

Meet your instructor: Melanie Breitkreutz
Melanie is a certified CFES fitness instructor teaching and training in Kelowna, BC, with a huge love for hiking, paddle boarding, individual and group fitness. Mel leads various group and personal training sessions including HIIT workouts, outdoor fitness classes, post-baby strengthening, weight training, and trail group hikes. Run Club
Location: Parkinson Recreation Centre
Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting May 22

For the beginner or the avid runner. Learn tips and improve your running skills.

Meet your instructor: Jason Woroby
Recently moved from Winnipeg, Jay has found his home and community right here in Kelowna. One of his biggest passions is community and inclusion and believes through movement possibilities become endless. During his free time he leads a run community and has become really passionate in terms of developing and leading others. Whether your goals are big or small, Jay is very attentive and always willing to support.

Walk and Wheels
Location: Parkinson Recreation Centre
Sunday 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. starting May 27

Whether you're interested in meeting new people, or trying out new routes, Walk and Wheels is a great way to get active. Bring roller blades, scooters, skateboards or shoes!
