|Parks development open house|| 2019-06-25|
17:00 to 19:00
We're working to implement a new approach to funding the development of future parks over the next 10 years.
A proposed funding strategy identifies how the City will fund parks so that neighbourhood, community, recreation and linear parks keep pace with Kelowna's population growth.
Until now, the rate of developing parks into useable spaces has not kept up with the City's rate of growth. As a result, there is a growing deficit of developed parks, which is insufficient to serve Kelowna's residents.
Learn more at this information session with City staff. Doors open at 5 p.m., and a 30-minute presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. followed by a question and answer period. An accessible entrance is available at the laneway.

These events bond communities together, creating life-long connections that bring light to the darkness of blood cancers. On the evening of June 15th, over 100 people from across the Okanagan will light up lanterns and walk together in a display of inspiration and hope for all affected by a blood cancer diagnosis. There are no registration fees or minimum fundraising requirements and all funds raised will go towards funding critical life saving research and patient support. There will be music, a BBQ and activities for the whole family.

Be part of a collective rally that brings together thousands of people whose lives are touched by T1D every day, and help change the face of T1D forever. We’re at a new location this year: Boyce Gyro Beach Park in Kelowna! The day starts early with food, music, games and activities for our estimated 500 participants: families, friends and neighbours of those afflicted with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and members of the general public. The walk is an easy 1.6km up and down Lakeshore between Gyro and Rotary beaches, and finishes with a hot dog lunch! In the 17 years it has been in Kelowna, the Sun Life Walk has raised over $2 million to help cure, better treat, and prevent T1D. Please join us at this year’s Walk, and support the incredible research projects that are paving the way to a world without T1D.
