09:00 to 16:30

This event has now passed. Sign up for our Arts and Culture enewsletter to learn about upcoming opportunities.

This introductory workshop offered by the City of Kelowna is open to all local non-profit organizations (including arts, culture, sport and social development sectors). Board members and staff are encouraged to participate.

Mark Friesen of Vantage Point will review the lifecycle model, the stages of development, and the characteristics and transitions that are common to non-profit organizations in different stages. The introduction will be followed by an organization self-assessment, to be completed by participants during the session, to inform next steps in the enhancement of their capacity.

By the end of the full-day workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain the seven stages of organizational lifecycle and identify the five areas of organizational capacity
  • Identify the benefits of applying the lifecycle lens and capacity framework to improve mission impact and program delivery
  • Self-assess your organization or program’s current stage using the Nonprofit Lifecycle Selfie tool and application of a program lifecycle tool
  • Identify realistic, concrete steps the organization can take to build capacity in governance, management, financial resources and/or administrative systems

Payton & Dillon Budd Memorial Ride 2019-06-23
07:00 to 12:00

At CMHA Kelowna we want to let anyone struggling in silence to know they are not alone. That’s why we are dedicating our Ride Don’t Hide event to the memory of two brothers in our community. The Payton and Dillon Budd Memorial Ride is a rallying point for us all: Anyone can experience poor emotional or mental health. Anyone can be at risk for thoughts of suicide. No one should have to hide or stay silent. On June 23rd, join us and ride in plain sight to raise funds for programs and services in our community. Ride Don’t Hide is a nation-wide fundraising bike ride that gives thousands of people across Canada the opportunity to connect—to their own mental health, to each other and to their broader communities, while raising the critical funds that support CMHA programs in their own community that help Canadians take care of our mental health. In Kelowna the ride start and finish line will be located at the baseball diamond at the Kelowna Curling Club. This year’s event includes two walking routes through Knox Mountain, a 6.5 KM Kids and Family route, a 20 KM route and a 50 KM Advanced route. The event will raise money for essential programs and services in our community, workplaces and schools – programs that help people live their best lives.
