Free downtown Bike Valet rolls back into Kelowna for the summer
The City’s popular Bike Valet program returns to downtown Kelowna once again this weekend, providing residents and visitors alike a place to safely and conveniently park their bikes while enjoying all that Kelowna’s downtown has to offer.
The service will be available Monday to Thursday, 1 - 9 p.m., and Friday to Sunday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., until September 4. The Bike Valet is operated free of charge and will once again be located at the intersection of Bernard Avenue and Mill Street as in previous years.
“The vision for the City’s 2040 Transportation Master Plan is grounded in programming that connects people and places to diverse active transportation options,” says Mayor Tom Dyas. "The annual summer Bike Valet allows both residents and visitors to dine, shop and explore Kelowna’s vibrant downtown with the confidence in knowing that their bikes are safely secured.”
Since it was launched in 2023, the Bike Valet has become an increasingly popular option for cyclists to park their bikes during the busy summer tourist season. Kelowna staff overseeing the booth parked 6,000 bikes and scooters in the summer of 2025 alone. Alongside other bike safety programs – including the Loan-a-Lock program available at Parkinson Recreation Centre, and Bikeep smart racks located in select recreation locations across the city – the Bike Valet program is just one of many options that continues to support the City’s growing active transportation needs.
“The success of the program has been evident in the growing number of recreational cyclists taking advantage of Bike Valet, especially during large-scale downtown and waterfront events,” says Jane Jones, Parks & Beaches Public Coordinator. “During the 2025 Canada Day alone, 375 people visited the Bike Valet to secure their rides.”
In addition to parking and watching over your bike, Bike Valet staff are also available to help visitors register with 529 Garage, a community service that assists local law enforcement to identify and recover stolen bikes.
