Flip Flop Gala to bring an elevated, one-night-only experience to Kelowna’s waterfront

An entirely unexpected and uniquely Okanagan kind of gala is arriving in Kelowna this summer. Set against the backdrop of the city’s Waterfront Park, the Flip Flop Gala on Monday, June 29 invites guests to experience a one-of-a-kind evening, where elevated style meets relaxed Okanagan energy, featuring curated tastes from some of the region’s best culinary partners.

Part of the week-long Touchdown Kelowna Festival, the Flip Flop Gala is distinctly unique from conventional black-tie events or other outdoor summer gatherings. Guests are encouraged to take an interpretive approach to the dress code — pairing elevated, expressive style on top with a more relaxed feel below, including sandals or flip flops. It’s formal meets relaxed, in a way that feels distinctly Okanagan.

“Much like the BC Lions’ historic visit to our city, the Flip Flop Gala is truly an event unlike anything seen before in Kelowna,” said Sarah Semeniuk, Event Services Supervisor with the City of Kelowna. “From curated food stations by local chefs, special appearances by local celebrities, to the fun and uniquely-Okanagan theme, the Flip Flop Gala is a celebration of Kelowna’s energy, community spirit and beauty.”

Each ticket includes a welcome cocktail by Luckhurst Distillery and food for the evening featuring curated grazing stations and local bites created by Chef Rod Butters at the Okanagan Table. Signature cocktails and additional beverages featuring the best of local beer, wine and spirits will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

While DJ Pri builds the evening’s soundtrack, guests will move through a series of thoughtfully curated spaces rather than a traditional seated setting. Lounge areas, cabanas, and ambient lighting create a relaxed, high-style atmosphere, while curated photo moments and a continuous soundtrack encourage natural interaction and movement throughout the night.

With intentionally limited capacity, the event is designed to feel intimate and considered offering a one-night-only experience that stands apart from traditional large-scale festivals or concerts.

The Flip Flop Gala is one of three headline events anchoring Touchdown Kelowna, a multi-day celebration surrounding the BC Lions’ historic visit to the city. Taking place from June 26 to July 4, the festival will transform Kelowna into a hub of sport, entertainment, and community activity.
