2009 YOUNG MALE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
Cody O’Neil

Out of the 11,000 applicants in Canada for the Wendy’s Classic Achievers Scholarship, only one male and one female were picked. Cody emerged the winner.
He also placed first in both national and international Science Fairs, including the gold medal at the 2009 Taiwan International Science Fair.
Mathematics is another area where Cody excels in and in 2009 he was the Unvierstiy of Waterloo National Mathematics Contest School Champion.
An accomplished public speaker, Cody has presented to elementary and secondary schools as well as provincial conferences. This ability transfers over well into the drama department at Kelowna Secondary School where he has played leading roles. He also narrated a video for School District 23 and hosted several online television programs.
Cody is an outstanding athlete, having earned MVPs in cross-country, track and field, volleyball, hockey, soccer and rugby.
A founding member of the schools Environmental club, he’s also part of the Tutoring Program and is co-president of this year’s grad council. Outside of school, he’s been involved with the Okanagan Research Innovation Centre, Community Science and Thenology Youth Outreach and the Science Foundation of British Columbia.
