Despite missing the first half of the season due to injuries, Abigail Raye was still the top goal scorer of the year with 23 goals and 15 assists, as co-captain of the KSS field hockey team. The year before while healthy, she scored smashed the school’s record scoring 51 goals with 23 assists.
Since moving to Canada in 2006, Abigail has been playing at either a provincial or national level in field hockey, starting as captain of the U16 provincial team that won silver in the U18 National championships. In 2007 at the age of 15 she made the U19 premiere provincial team, as well as being captain of the U16 selects, U18 Heat and the KSS Owls.
In 2008, Abigail was named to the Senior National squad, which involved training in Vancouver every Friday and Saturday from September to December, and billeting there for July and August. As part of the U19 BC Premier team they won gold at the National Championships and Abigail was named to the U23 national Development squad.
And proving she’s as gifted academically as she is athletically, she currently has a 3.7 GPA. |

With a perfect 4.0 GPA, you might think Chantal spends all her time studying, however one look at her sports records and instead, you’ll wonder when she sleeps.
A four-sport athlete, Chantal is on the Okanagan Mission Secondary school’s track and field team, plays volleyball, basketball and soccer. As athlete of the year in Grades 8, 9 and 10, she missed out on Grade 11 as she was on a year exchange program in Switzerland, where she played on the U17 Swiss national soccer team. For the past three years she’s played on the Vancouver Whitecaps team at the U17 level. In the summer of 2008, not only was she on the Whitecaps but she was also asked to play on the elite Women’s Okanagan Challenge team, starting every game. She has also been invited to attend Olympic development camps for soccer as well.
As captain of both the Grade 12 volleyball and basketball team, Chantal also earned MVP awards in both of these sports. She’s also a member of the Leadership Program and in her spare time, is vice president of the grad council. |
