The Recreation & Cultural Services department provides recreational and cultural amenities for the community. The department is focused on meeting the current and future leisure needs of the City’s diverse population and interests.
Community & Neighborhood Programs
Community & Neighborhood Programs delivers a broad spectrum of sport, recreation and cultural programs throughout the community. They provide a wide range of multi-age programming for individuals of all abilities and social-economic levels that promote active lifestyles and neighbourhood connectivity.
Cultural Services
Collaboration with arts, cultural and heritage organizations is a key role for Cultural Services in further supporting the development of Kelowna’s cultural sector. Cultural Services provides operating and grant funding which support cultural initiatives and also promotes the Cultural District
through strategic marketing, festivals and events and operates the Kelowna Community Theatre
.
Sport & Facility Programs
Working with local sports organizations, Sport & Facility Programs builds partnerships to support community sport and recreation programs. Staff provide aquatics programming at Parkinson Recreation Centre, scheduling coordination for all arenas, stadiums and sports fields and assists the Outdoor Event application process for events taking place in City parks and roadways.
